1999 Great Trail Festival
Week 2
see week 1

Great Trails was a fun-filled festival in which we got to see several old friends and meet quite a few new ones. I spent the entire weekend demonstrating how to chip flint to make a knife or arrowhead just like the indians would have done. Mike Miller, Don Kahl and Jerry (I don't know his last name) from Parkersburg stopped by on their way home from the Flint Ridge Knap In to do a little bit of chipping. Thanks guys!

Our familiar Woodland Originals set-up. If you see this set up, hang around and I'll show you the 1-2-3's of flint knapping. If you're interested in trying it, I have avery good step-by-step instructional book, all the tools you need and some flint to practice on. Everything you need to get started will cost you about $95.00.

As usual, Sharon has the marquee set up and beautifully arranged, ready to greet visitors.

Here's a few of the blades we had on display. The black Ohio flint seems to be a favorite of many people.

Ohe of the rare moments Sharon and I have at the shows. I'm not chipping and she's not busy in the marquee.

Here I am gettin started before the fokes come in. I like to warm up on a 2 - 3" arrowhead. Here I'm using the Ishi stick to run some finish flakes down one.
